I changed my mindset: packing for work trips is easier with only the essentials (you can do it too)

Pre-pandemic, I was traveling 2x per week on overnight business trips and was in great practice of packing every little thing I mightneed.

My system & lists of things to bring was focused, efficient, but I was stressed.

Then, the pandemic happened...and I didn't travel for 18 months.

My first post-lock down trip was an out-of-practice packing ordeal. I tried my old system of listing every item like I used to, but it took all day, my suitcase was bursting, and my body did not appreciate that old stressful feeling.

So, I changed it up.

I challenged myself to prioritize only the essential things. I had to trust that everything else I packed would just work out.

I've recently been to London, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and a few other locations for work, and that old stress of needing to think of everything is gone.

I pack consciously, but not perfectly, and if I forget a clothing item, I create a new outfit with what I have. If I forget a toothbrush, I buy one. This feels profoundly better than my pre-pandemic habits.

my essentials

•passport
•credit card
•glasses/contacts
•phone & laptop
•one outfit

If I have the above, I know I'll be okay...even if stranded on a desert island.
