Arvold Warner Studio Policies
COVID-19
In-Person Classes: Masks are optional. Changes to this policy are per the discretion of each teaching artist and per class, as safety is our top priority. On occasion, we may require masks or a negative COVID-19 test for certain events. In general, our studio adheres to SAG-AFTRA COVID-19 protocols (industry standard) and implementing these guidelines not only helps to educate screen artists, but is an opportunity to practice current protocols experienced on a professional set.
Policy for Virtual Classes: We recognize that there are many artists who are better served remotely, which is why we continue to offer classes in a virtual format, so as to be inclusive, and remain accessible to our worldwide community.
STUDENT RULES & RESPONSIBILITIES
All Classes: Arrive prepared.
While we provide class materials digitally, we recommend you print them out and bring them with you. Same goes for outside material (scripts, scenes, books, etc.) as required by your class.
Certain classes will require additional practice/work outside of the class times; all outside assignments must be completed in accordance with the educator’s instruction.
Have a pen and paper/notebook handy during class. Taking notes on phones or iPads is discouraged as it may be distracting and studies show that handwritten notes are absorbed by the brain differently and more imaginatively.
The use of cell phones is not allowed during class. We want you fully engaged in your craft, whether you are actively working with a teacher or observing another student. Device distraction wastes our collective time.
In-person: Some of our teachers and students are extremely sensitive to smoke and other odors. For in-person classes, there is NO SMOKING OR VAPING allowed. Please do not overdo cologne or perfume, either. A great default is to use professional puppeteer courtesy: be clean and odor free as your nose may be in another’s armpit while working together.
Please keep food and any flavored drinks in the lobby or patio area. Water is the only liquid permitted inside the acting studio. Be sure to clean up after yourself!
ATTENDANCE AND LATENESS
Class attendance is expected: Punctuality, preparedness, and professionalism are necessary for a thriving artistic environment. If you must miss a class, notify aws@arvold.com immediately. If you need to arrive late, or leave early, you must ask your teacher and receive permission in advance. In many of our classes, you will be partnered with another artist, and your full timely attendance has a direct impact on their experience, too. Disrupting the class through unexcused absences or repeated lateness (or other behaviors) is grounds for dismissal. Note that your financial obligation remains if you are dismissed from class for any of these reasons.
Participation is required: Our curriculum is curated for you to expand your craft through observant interaction. Your active participation creates a supportive, vibrant environment. In the case of a special circumstance, please inform your teaching artist.
FEES & REFUND POLICY
Payments: We accept credit/debit card payment only. We offer a payment plan for select classes that must be paid in full before class begins.
Refunds: We do not offer refunds or credits for class fees, deposits, or missed classes. If you have an extenuating circumstance, you may contact aws@arvold.com.
EDUCATORS
Our teachers are working screen artists. Arvold Warner Studio reserves the right to substitute one educator for another or change in-person to virtual, when deemed appropriate and necessary.
