backup.

I’m backing up my computer. I haven’t done it for months, and I could have lost all sorts of information.

It’s the same with our artistry. Backing up your artistry requires you to write down the things that you try and note the things that work and the things that don’t. Letting an idea bounce around in your head is great in the short term, but letting that idea flow out of your fingers and onto a sheet of paper or your computer makes it solid and real and examinable and testable. Making an honest assessment of the time you’ve spent working on your craft is perhaps the most important backup you can do.

You might just look at it all and feel kinda proud of all you do. You deserve a backup.
